The Stars Nearly Aligned For Jason Day At The Wells Fargo

This past weekend was shaping up to be a fascinating one at the Wells Fargo Championship, with Jason Day at the top leaderboard through the first two rounds. He held a 3 shot lead over 2019 Wells Fargo winner Max Homa and two other former champions, James Hahn and Brian Harman, rounding out the top 10.

Going into the weekend, the spotlight was on the Aussie, Jason Day. It appeared that the stars were aligning for Day to snap his 4-year winless drought.

Day’s last victory coincidentally came at the  2018 Wells Fargo Championship, 4 years ago, and this past Sunday was Mother’s Day. Jason has faced a lot of adversity the past few years, but has battled through it and shows to have no quit in him.

Recently, his mother, Dening Day, passed away in March. Jason credits all his success to her sacrifices of using her life’s savings, mortgages on the home, and sending him (Jason Day) to a private school with a golf academy.

Although this weekend wasn’t what Day expected, it was a solid performance to build upon with a top 15 finish, with Max Homa picking up another win at the Wells Fargo Championship. He’s getting closer to a high level of performance and is more comfortable with his swing.

Jason Day’s perspective on life keeps growing, as does his golf game.

Per Jason Day in remembering his mother:

“Today I am grateful for the additional memories we’ve built throughout her long cancer journey. From weeknight dinners, painting classes and vacations. To my mum being there for those priceless moments during holidays with our children, her diagnosis helped us realize that our time as a family should never be taken for granted.”
