Pro Golfer Loses A Tournament By Taking A Full Swing On The Green!

Chances are, if you take a full swing on a putting green, you are more than likely going to get scolded. However, this past weekend on the Asian Tour at the Maekyung Open, pro golfer Min-Gyu Cho took a full swing on a green!

It’s not too often that a golf ball will land on another green of a different hole from your tee shot. The surprising thing is nobody said or mentioned anything to Cho as he was sizing up the shot. He was tacked with a two-stroke penalty for hitting a full golf shot on another green that cost him the tournament.

Cho lost by two shots, ironically enough to eventual winner Bio Kim which would have put them in a playoff. It was a lesson learned for Cho that came at a great price.

Something like this was caught on full display in 2014 on the PGA Tour when Seung-Yul Noh took out his iron and hit another shot from a green of a different hole. Noh received a two-shot penalty, as did Cho.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where you are on a different green from another golf hole, be sure to take a free drop no closer to the hole. It will save you two strokes if you are playing in a tournament and potential headache for the greenskeeper for the divot on the green.

By taking the free relief, you’ll be on your way without the stress of adding two strokes to your scorecard.
