This Guy Won $1.2 Million on Tiger’s Masters Victory and it Was His Very First Sports Bet
Wisconsin day trader James Adducci wasn’t worried about Tiger’s 14:1 odds headed into the 2019 Masters. He simply had a feeling Tiger was about to do something great.
So Adducci boarded a plane, flew to Vegas, and placed his $85,000 bet.
If you’re wondering what his wife had to say about his decision you’re not the only one. According to the NY Post, James’ wife told him ‘I can’t stop you from doing this, because if he wins, I’ll never forgive myself.’ To which Adducci simply acknowledges that “she’s a keeper.”

So why did James place the hefty wager on Woods? In an interview with My Guys in the Desert Adducci said:
“It wasn’t about the odds for me. My reasons for thinking that he was going to win were more personal, about where he is at in his career and his life.”
Needless to say, his gut feeling about the GOAT was spot-on. Tiger’s win resulted in a $1.275 million payout for Adducci.
As for what he’ll do with the money, James told Golf Digest that he’s going to invest it.
“My background is finance. I’m going to invest most of it. And we’re going to grow it.”
Remarkably, Adducci was turned down away by two casinos before finally finding a sports book that would take the action. Ultimately it was SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, operated by William Hill that allowed him to make the bet.

For a bit of perspective on the payout, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Xander Schauffele each took home $858,667 for their T2 finish in the event. So Adducci’s payday was second only to Tiger Woods, who brought in $2,070,000 for his win at Augusta.
