After posting a Thursday 75 and signing for a Friday 77, it turns out his score on Friday added up to 78, after signing for a par on the 11th hole when he in fact made a bogey. These infringements do seem futile, with every statistic being tracked to minute detail, from spin rates to GIR percentages and overall strokes gained or lost. Disqualifying players for some bad maths or a slight concentration lapse seems excessive, but they are the rules. Rule 3.3b was breached, so Bjorn’s bags are packed.

Sitting at +13 (or +12) for the week, he was heading home anyway, but the disqualification adds the added embarrassment for such an accomplished player!
