Thomas Pieters Posted a “For Sale” Sign On His Golf Bag
It’s hard making money in the golf game unless you’re contending for every tournament you participate in. So there are many ways to supplement income and pro golfer Thomas Pieters is really pushing to gain that extra cash.
Pieters was previously a pretty hot name on the PGA TOUR, as the young Belgian had some spectacular performances only a few years ago at the 2016 Ryder Cup and the 2017 Masters. Since then, however, he has sort of drifted out of the minds of the mainstream golf media. But that doesn’t mean he’s lost his skills, however, as he still ranks as one of the top golfers in the world.
Having the prestige that Pieters has, coupled with his top 100 ranking in the World Golf Rankings, gives Thomas many opportunities to gain sponsorships from major companies. Right now, Pieters is already signed to endorsement deals with Nike and Callaway Golf but that isn’t enough for Pieters. He’s now letting the world know that he’s open to another sponsor by putting a huge “For Sale” embroidery on his golf bag.
The best piece of marketing I’ve seen in a while! @EuropeanTour @Thomas_Pieters @maybankchampion pic.twitter.com/cb3UuhLOYV

While this is an excellent piece of marketing to try and drive a competition to sponsor him, I think the most impressive aspect of the embroidery is that it’s in three different languages. So not only is Pieters offering up the sponsor spot to the American and British world of golf, but he’s also opening up opportunities with lesser known brands.
It seems like a good idea for Pieters to try and land another sponsorship but I for one like what he’s been doing with his bag since the beginning of the year, sponsoring some family and local golf tournaments. The best of these small little endorsements was Pieters rocking the creative agency run by his brother on the bag.
It would be cool to see Pieters keep up the small shoutouts rather than go with another big name sponsor but that’s not what brings in the cash.
It’ll be interesting to see if any groups step up to fund the now vacant spot on Pieters bag or if the For Sale sign will be up for a bit longer. Perhaps, if Pieters has a big showing in an upcoming tournament, the sponsors will flock over to the promising golfer.
