Tiger Riding a Cart to TOUR Champions by 2026?!
Against the wishes of the general golfing public, Tiger Woods has repeatedly refused to seek a medical exemption and ride a cart—rather than walking—while competing on the TOUR. Tiger’s steadfast position, however, doesn’t mean he’s swearing off carts in competition rounds forever.

During Sir Nick Faldo’s new podcast Round Table Chats, Tiger’s rival, Jack Nicklaus, was discussing Tiger and stated:
“He can actually still hit the ball pretty well, he just can’t walk. I told him, I said ‘Tiger you’re eligible to take a cart’, but he said ‘I’m not going to do that, when I get to the senior tour I will.”

The Golden Bear further commented on Tiger’s professional play, stating he will be playing on the PGA TOUR Champions in three years’ time.
Jack’s comments aren’t earth-shattering, but perhaps disappointing that Tiger has not been swayed from seeking a medical exemption and considering taking a cart during TOUR competition rounds, although he’s open to using one on the TOUR Champions. That said, I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom.
Instead, I think there’s a very uplifting takeaway here: Tiger’s competitive spirit isn’t wanning. On the contrary, it appears he’s interested in competing until he physically can’t. And I think this is significant because it’s worth noting that Tiger leaving the TOUR to compete on the TOUR Champions does not mean he’d be exclusively playing on the TOUR Champions. In fact, just the opposite was demonstrated when Phil Mickelson played—and won twice—on the TOUR Champions before he won the PGA Championship in 2021. And given that Tiger has lifetime exemptions to the Masters, I think there’s a very good possibility that we’ll be seeing the Big Cat in Augusta for years to come.
