Tiger Woods 2k Sports Partnership? // More From Around The World of Golf

Justin Thomas came back to form this week in triumphant fashion after being 9 strokes off the lead going into the weekend. Two eagles on the weekend and what JT called his one of his best tee-to-green rounds of his life on Sunday was enough for him to finish off his first Players Championship victory.

The most intriguing thing to me about Justin Thomas’ game this week, especially on Sunday, was the low bullet hook and he was hitting off the tee. It was so controlled and rolled out for miles but on the broadcast’s shot tracer, you would have thought he duck hooked it out of bounds. He did come a little too close for comfort on the par 4 18th hole, but played it off great with an homage to the GOAT.

Tiger Woods 2k Sports Partnership?

It looks like Tiger Woods is re-entering the video game world, announcing Tuesday that he will be entering a deal with 2k sports, just a year after they made a return for 2k21 with Justin Thomas as the cover athlete. I could not be more pumped about this partnership. Just one main item on the wish list:

You need to be able to play as any TOUR player you want. Imagine being able to play the final round of the U.S. Open with guys like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, or Jordan Spieth. 2k sports has made a huge splash with this first game, but I can only imagine what kind of popularity they could gain with more accessibility to the players.

Lee Westwood Sunday Woes… Still Living His Best Life

Sure, it’s easy to point out the fact that Lee Westwood has been in the final group on Sunday each of the last two weeks without capitalizing with a win. But you also have to realize the flip side of it. He’s made $2.6 million in these two tournaments, and he’s had his girlfriend on the bag the whole time. The guy looks happy to be playing solid golf, and he followed up his finish this week by playing Augusta National on Monday with his son, who will now be on his bag for the next couple weeks. Keep livin’ life, Lee.

Double Heart Recipient Playing at The Honda Classic

When we had Ryan French, aka Monday Q Info, on the Pin High Podcast, he gave us some absolutely insane stories and backgrounds of guys who have competed in Monday qualifiers over the years. These guys are up there for the most resilient as well as passionate people not only in the game of golf, but the world.

Erik Compton is one of those people. He’s survived two heart transplants over the years, and has had as much success as being the 2014 U.S. Open runner-up. But he has struggled in the time that he’s been on the PGA TOUR as well as the Korn Ferry. This week he played in the Monday Qualifier at Banyan Cay in West Palm Beach, and after carding a 65, he will be teeing it up at PGA National this week. Just a true feel good story, and you have to be rooting for him to make a cut. Who knows, crazier things have happened in the month of March…
