Tiger Woods Announces 2019 Debut at Torrey Pines
Tiger Woods announced he will be making his 2019 debut next week at Torrey Pines Golf Club at the Farmers Insurance Open.
This is Tiger’s third consecutive year he will begin his season at Torrey Pines, and rightly so. Woods has a history of winning at Torrey as he has won the Farmers Insurance Open seven times before, as well as the US Open back in 2008. So safe to say, Woods knows his way around the challenging course in San Diego, California.
Kicking off this season on the west coast at @FarmersInsOpen and my TGRF’s @GenesisOpen. Can’t wait!

The last time we saw Tiger play an official PGA TOUR event was back in September at the TOUR Championship in which he walked away with the Calamity Jane trophy for his 80th career victory, capping off an incredible comeback season. Woods later on competed in his annual charity event, the Hero World Challenge, in which he finished second to last in the 18-man field. So, the question is, how prepared it Tiger going to be for his season opener?

Tiger took some time off from competitive golf after the Hero World Challenge in December and really focused on building up his strength in the gym. That’s the main thing with Tiger Woods now a days. We know his golf game will be there, we know his mental game will be there, but how is his body going to hold up?
After looking back on 2018, Woods realized he played too much golf and is looking to minimize his work load in 2019 so his body is fresh for the bigger tournaments throughout the year and feel fresh and energetic at the end of the year.
It certainly isn’t something Tiger wants to do but it’s something he has to do if he looks to compete on the PGA TOUR for years to come. However, with Tigers’ success at Torrey Pines and his momentum carrying over from the previous season, I can see Tiger using the electric crowds to his advantage and really give them a showing of vintage Tiger early in 2019. But it certainly won’t be easy as he’s up against a star-studded field.
Woods will be competing against the best of the best at Torrey Pines. Defending champion Jason Day will be looking too rain on Tigers parade and win the Farmers Insurance Open for the third time in his career. Defending FedExCup champion Justin Rose will also be in attendance, as well as some other notables in Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Rory Mcllroy and Xander Schauffle.
Tiger is looking to start his 2019 season the same way he ended his 2018 season. A trophy, a smile, and of course….81.
