Tiger Woods ‘Certainly In Condition’ to Play Ahead of The Masters

There is an off chance that we see Tiger Woods ahead of The Masters, a dramatic development considering we usually only expect to see him for the four Major Championships.

Woods was slated to play in the Genesis Invitational, a tournament he hosts each year early in the PGA TOUR season. However, the death of his mother sidelined him as he said he was just not ready to return shortly after losing her.

Understandably so, and it was only encouraging because it was the first time in a while Woods pulled out from a tournament for a reason other than injury. For golf fans, things are just better and more vibrant when Tiger is out there.

Apparently, there is a chance we see him ahead of The Masters in what would be his first appearance at the signature event in several years.

Brad Faxon, a coach and former player on TOUR, believes the 15-time Major Winner could play at The PLAYERS if he truly wants to, and this is based on what he’s seen from him recently:

“Tiger drove it out there with Keegan on every shot. He walked all 18 holes there was not even a limp. He’s certainly in condition to play.”

Faxon commented in reference to the Seminole Pro-Member, where Woods played with Seth Waugh. They finished T26 in the net scoring with a 67.

He continued on during the interview:

“Hopefully for us at NBC and all fans he plays the PLAYERS championship.”

With all this being said, it is more than likely our first look at Woods on a golf course will be at Augusta. At the TGL event on Tuesday, he seemed to hint that he has too many other things going on:

“I haven’t really gotten into it. My heart is not really into practicing right now. I’ve had so many other things to do with the Tour and trying to do other things. Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I’ll start looking at the schedule.”

When do you expect to see Woods for the first time, and how many times do you believe he’ll play this year?

Inspired by the likes of Woods, Palmer, McIlroy, and Koepka, Joey plays over 100 times a year in the South Central Pennsylvania area. When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
