Titleist Releases Limited Edition Experimental EXP•01 Golf Ball
As mentioned in the article we published last week discussing the redeveloped TruFeel golf ball, Titleist is known as one the premier golf ball manufacturers, who is constantly looking for the next advancement that can help provide golfers with better performance.
Naturally, during the Research & Development phases, chemical engineers, mathematicians, materials scientists, and aerodynamics physicists come together and create several different concept golf balls in the hopes of coming across the next advancement.
However, except for the white concept sleeves fortunate Team Titleist members receive in the mail, consumers never have the opportunity to see these concept golf balls and put them in play to see how they perform differently against the current iteration of the ProV1, ProV1x, etc.
Until now…
For a limited time only, Titleist will be releasing the EXP•01 golf ball, an experimental multi-layer construction utilizing a new high-performance urethane cover formulation and process.
The EXP•01 golf ball is being released as part of the larger Titleist EXP Project, a new and ongoing initiative dedicated to providing golfers with the opportunity to experience new golf ball technologies that are still in the experimental phase.
Indeed, Titleist R&D and Golf Ball Product Management teams will be actively seeking performance feedback from golfers who play EXP•01 during its availability. As Michael Mahoney, Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball Marketing, noted, the “EXP•01 is truly an exploratory product and there’s no better way to evaluate our progress than getting it into the hands of dedicated golfers.”
In regard to what makes the EXP•01 unique, to start Titleist R&D has integrated three noteworthy developments.
First, the MTR Developmental Cover System, a short game spin enhancing urethane cover developed through material and process experimentation.
Second, Innovative Core Technology, a high-speed core construction and specialized layer designed to deliver low spin on long game shots for great distance and tight dispersion.
Finally, a Proprietary 346 Dimple Design, which has been developed through rigorous testing to optimize flight profile for peak performance.
The EXP•01 will be a limited, one-time offering made available in golf shops in the U.S. and Canada, as well as through My Titleist on Titleist.com while supplies last.
Pricing for the EXP•01 will be $39.99, but having the opportunity to test an experimental Titleist golf ball and provide feedback to their R&D team will undoubtedly be significantly more valuable.
