Every year we get treated to a new version of “The Match.” What started out as a head to head from this generation’s greatest two players is now a fun exhibition between golf’s best players and superstars from other sports. It’s been fun to watch, with some great content to come out of it.

Here is something you didn’t see. In an interview with Chicago Sports Radio show Waddle and Silvy(@waddleandsilvy) on ESPN 1000 (@ESPN1000), the Chicago sports market was treated to a special nugget from Charles Barkley. While he was covering the match with Tom Brady last year, he made a comment to him regarding his watch. It was an expensive white watch that I’ll l never come close to in my life, and Barkley liked how it looked.

You can get a good look at it in this golf cart interview during the round.

Brady said thank you for the compliment but what happened later is unbelievable. When everything was said and done, Barkley was informed that Tom wanted to see him. Barkley found Brady in the clubhouse, and that’s where the GOAT did GOAT things.

He took off his watch and handed it to Sir Charles! He said he respects him and wanted him to have it since he liked it so much. Charles said in the interview that he was told by Trever Immelmann that the watch was easily worth like 12k.

Unprompted, no media around or intention for any credit, Brady just gives away his watch like it’s nothing. Next time I see Brady, I’m complimenting him on whatever car he’s driving.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
