TOUR Players We’re Left in the Dark: LIV Merger News Discovered Via Twitter

The two rival Tours in professional golf are merging together.

There will be so much to unpack on this one – but first off – the way we found out is through Twitter. And turns out, it was the same for the players.

Jay Monahan’s letter to the ‘player-run’ PGA Tour was a real slap in the face. Especially for guys that have faced the music for the entire year, answering constant questions and having to bear the weight at the press conferences. Monahan was nowhere to be seen while Rory, Rahm, JT and the guys who stayed were quizzed about doing so.

And then to find out on Twitter!? So crazy. A handful of the top professionals have tweeted their disdain- including Collin Morikawa.

There will be huge changes over the next few days as we unpack world rankings, major eligibility, the name for the new Tour, and how a unified golf league works going forward.

What we do know is the PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan has joined the PGA Tour Policy Board. The Board of Directors has Monahan listed as CEO – with Al-Rumayyan as Chairman.

Here’s what the boys on the Podcast had to say about it:

Patrick joined us in May 2022 with a strong passion for the game and a writing style to match. He is a good golfer, originally from Cumbria in the UK, and now living in British Columbia, Canada. He focuses on writing opinion pieces while keeping up to date with LIV Golf, Tour events and Major championships, providing good insights into the professional game. His best golf memories are shooting 72 with a double on 18, running the Golf Society at Lancaster University, and steering them to the first ever Varsity win against rivals York. His favorite club is his Scotty Cameron Newport 2.0, and his favorite event is the Masters!
