TOUR TALK: PGA Championship is a GO, but With a Minor Change
The first major championship on the shuffled 2020 schedule will take place, but will be played with no fans.
The PGA Tour was holding out on the possibility of allowing spectators on the grounds at the PGA Championship, but that will not be happening. Originally scheduled for May, the tournament will now be played August 6th-9th. California officials announced permission for the event to take place, but only in a scenario with no fans.
All ticket buyers will be compensated with a refund. Harding Park has never hosted a major championship, and hasn’t been featured on the PGA Tour since 2015 (WGC Match Play, won by Rory Mcilroy). There have been concerns about the course’s ability to accommodate major championship crowds, but that is no longer an issue.

The decision is understandable, as the tournament will take place in one of the most affected areas in the country. The Tour hasn’t made a decision regarding spectators at any other events, aside from the Memorial where they will allow 8,000 patrons a day.
It should still be an exciting week, as Brooks Koepka plays for his 3rd straight PGA Championship title.
