Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children OpenAs we cruise into the final Fall Golf Series on the PGA Tour, players who have been sitting on the sidelines watching the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the Ryder Cup will return to compete once again in 2012 (next year, the Tour Championship will conclude the season and the 2013 season will commence right after).

The focus over the next few weeks will be on the No. 125 player bubble spot which marks the cutoff exemption line for eligibility to compete on Tour next year.  The top 30 in earnings at the end of the 2012 season will be exempt into the Masters and the top 70 are granted spots at both the Arnold Palmer invitational and Memorial Tournament.

This week’s Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open will be played at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, NV.  The course is a confidence builder with a 68.883 scoring average on a par 71 measuring 7,342 yards.  Summerlin is known for its large greens which created a whopping birdie average of 4.40.

Of course the weather in Las Vega swill be perfect with temperatures in 80s by the weekend.  Winds will not be too much of a factor either.

We like Robert Garrigus and Nick Watney this week.  Garrigus hasn’t missed a cut in six starts at this event.  In 2011, he finished T16 with a dynamite 3rd round score of 63.   Watney, a hometown hero of Las Vegas, was the co-leader last year after 54 holes before losing out to Kevin Na.
