After leaving Team Callaway in 2017, Patrick Reed has predominantly played as an unsponsored player, excluding his iron partnership with boutique, premium Japanese iron forging house grindworks (who has developed some absolutely drool-worthy jewels):

But rather than going all and being exclusively signed to one brand, as is commonplace among the PGA TOUR, it appears that Reed is going against the grain by partnering with brands for certain aspects as of his bag, as demonstrated by his newest partnership with PXG:

As confirmed by PXG’s Instagram page, Reed will be joining Zach Johnson, Joel Dahmen, and Jason Kokrak, but on a very limited basis.  Per Reed’s PXG Ambassador Page, Reed will only be gaming the PXG GEN4 Driver for the moment.  The limited engagement can be implied from the sponsored hat that he was spotted wearing, which, although emblazoned with “PXG” on the front, still features the grindworks logo on the side.

It is unclear what Reed will round out the rest of his bag with, which previously included TaylorMade SIM fairway wood, Callaway Apex Pro hybrid, Artisan Proto, Vokey SM8 and Vokey WedgeWorks Proto wedges and Odyssey White Hot Pro 3 putter.

This is the second noteworthy signing, after Brooks Koepka—who had remained unsigned during all 4 of his Major victories following Nike Golf’s departure from equipment manufacturing—officially joined Team Srixon late-November 2021.

Reed’s first official event with PXG starts today with the Sentry Tournament of Champions, hosted by Kapalua on their Plantation Course.  It will be interesting to see if other PXG equipment, including their GEN4 fairway woods and hybrids, will find their way into Reed’s bag going forward.
