The birthplace of golf has stood the test of time for centuries. With documented rounds going as far back as 1552, the iconic Old Course is easily the most recognizable golf course in the world.

One major part of this course is the Swilcan Bridge.

Originally built over 700 years ago to help shepherds get their livestock from one side of the creek to the other, this 30-foot bridge is now a major part of every golfer’s dream trip.

Like anything that has stood the test of time, change is eventually going to come. Recently the iconic landmark has received a small addition. There has been a small garden patio added to the bridge.

It’s done very well, and it looks like it had been there from the beginning, but we know it hasn’t. I just wonder why?  Why now? Why change it at all? I’m not sure how I feel about it right now.

I don’t hate it, but also, I’m not sure if I’m a fan. It’s safe to say these Twitter users are NOT fans of the addition:

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
