U.S. Open Qualifying Delivers – See Who Will Be Playing Pinehurst No. 2
U.S. Open Qualifying went CRAZY yesterday, with several big names missing the cut at their playoff events. Additionally, some familiar names managed to hit a hot streak over the past several weeks, which enabled them to join the field at Pinehurst next weekend.
Qualifying for the U.S. Open is one of the most grueling tasks in all of professional golf. Commonly referred to as “The Longest Day in Golf,” yesterday’s final qualifying day saw names like Harry Higgs, Matt Kuchar, and Sam Bennett punch their ticket to this year’s tournament.
Meanwhile, mainstays like Joaquin Niemann and Adam Scott, who has not missed a Major Championship since 2011, will have to stay home this year.
Harry Higgs Catches Fire
Harry Higgs has won his last two Korn Ferry Tour starts and managed to capture a spot in the U.S. Open.
Higgs fired birdies in two consecutive playoff holes yesterday to secure his spot at Pinehurst next weekend:

Cam Davis Outduels Adam Scott
Adam Scott has not missed a Major Championship since 2011, a streak that goes back 13 years. However, he will miss the 2024 U.S. Open as Cam Davis outdueled Scott in a playoff yesterday.
Scott managed to hole out from just off the green for birdie, forcing Davis to make an uphill, right-to-left breaker to keep the playoff going:

Davis would eventually beat Scott in the final playoff hole, ending Adam Scott’s streak of consecutive Major Championship appearances.
Niemann Misses Out
Matt Kuchar, Daniel Berger, and Dean Burmester led the way at the U.S. Open Qualifying event at the Bears Club in Jupiter, Florida, with several names being just out of the cut line.
Among those who will miss the U.S. Open due to their play is Joaquin Niemann, who fired 71 and 71 for a -2, not good enough to make it in the field. Fellow LIV Golfer Anirban Lahiri also missed the cut with the same score and the same rounds.
