Why don’t my parlays hit like this one did? Unbelievable.

A UK bettor constructed a six-leg parlay, which would pay 90,396-1 if it hit. And it did.

The 6 legs…

  • Croatia to defeat Scotland at +140.
  • England to defeat Czech Republic at -182.
  • Steve Stricker to win the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship at +500.
  • Nelly Korda to win the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at +1,400.
  • Viktor Hovland to win the BMW International Open at +650.
  • Harris English to win the Travelers Championship at +3,500.

He told Betfair, the online book which the bet was placed through, that the first 3 golf bet were “good bets” but he was “unsure” about English.

Watching the Travelers late Sunday afternoon must’ve been a heart attack. It took 8(!!!) playoff holes for Harris to get it done.

“When he won the playoff, I was very relieved. I thought he had lost it after some wayward tee shots on the 18th hole. I thought I was going to have a heart attack when the winning putt went in. I couldn’t believe it.” – Bettor in Betfair company statement

The bet paid out £1,039,554, which converts to $1.36 million is US dollars.

I grew up in southern New Hampshire, where I first fell in love with the game of golf. I started by just going out and messing around with my buddies and focusing purely on having a good time! I never took golf seriously until I moved down to Tampa, FL to attend the University of South Florida. Go Bulls! At the start of my junior year I got a job working as a cart boy at a local private country club. This is when I started to focus on golf becoming my career. During the fall of my senior year, I turned from a 14 handicap, to a 2. I passed the PAT scoring test my first try and haven't looked back.
