A Canadian winning their National Open means a huge step forward in their progress as a golfing nation.

It’s been coming for some time – with regular sightings of the maple leaf flag high up the leaderboard; names like Corey Conners, Adam Svensonn, Taylor Pendrith, and now Nick Taylor – winning at the highest level and ready to tackle the worlds best players.

It seems Adam Hadwin, 70th ranked player in the world and Canadian native, was on the receiving end of some tackling of his own – being absolutely flattened by a security guard on the 18th hole while celebrating Nick Taylor’s monstrous putt.

Watch here as he sprays celebratory champagne only to be left wiped out on his back by security!

The best part? His friend Corey Conners just jogged straight past and celebrated with Nick Taylor – who’d just secured the championship.

The rest of security awkwardly helped him back to his feet – clearly not recognising him at first. Maybe a stern word with the boss is due in the morning…

Or an interview with the Gators defense coach?
