WATCH: Charles Barkley’s New Golf Swing!
Charles Barkley has made his mark on golf in recent years.
First, we saw his atrocious golf swing back in 2-14, with a suspenseful pause in the downswing that left us wondering where his athletic prowess had disappeared to. Check the ‘before’ swing out here.
The 11-time NBA All-Star then featured as a commentator over the next few years, specifically ribbing Tom Brady during his performance in ‘The Match’ with Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, and Aaron Rodgers. He was even in talks with LIV Golf for a brief period of time.
Mickelson then promised us, in 2020, that Barkley’s swing had gotten much better leading up to the ‘Champions for Change’ Match. Stone Canyon Golf Club played host as Barkley and Mickelson beat Steph Curry and Peyton Manning, 4&3.

The 2006 NBA Hall of Fame inductee made one fan very happy, who banked $1,000 on him finding the first fairway in this fixture. Check out the tempo improvement!
We knew he had made strides from the 2014 swing video through the last couple of years, but the best changes were yet to come.
Fast forward to 2022, and Golf Digest has released a video of the new and improved Barkley golf swing, and it has almost no similarities to his old heave from the previous decade. Watch the smooth transition below.

The much-loved basketball star has been taking lessons with coach Stan Utley, and they have clearly paid dividends. He can be seen with much more speed and timing, nailing a three-wood that his coach declared went around 260 yards. The evolution of the Barkley golf swing has been a fun watch from the sidelines, and it’s fair to say he looks to be enjoying his game a lot more now!
