Rory McIlroy failed to make the cut at the Valero Texas Open this weekend, leaving many pessimistic about the possibility of a real run at the upcoming 2022 Masters Tournament.
A departure from normal routine, Rory opted to sit out of the Dell Match Play in favor of the Valero Texas Open in preparation for this year’s Masters Tournament.

The 2022 Masters will be McIlroy’s 14th attempt at the elusive green jacket and his 8th attempt at the career grand slam.
A win at Augusta would be monumental for McIlroy, catapulting him to the likes of Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods as the only five members of the exclusive club.
