WINNER: Webb Simpson Claims 2nd Victory of the Season at the RBC Heritage
Harbour Town provided one of the most entertaining tournaments in recent memory. The leaderboard was clogged at the top entering Sunday’s round, and that’s the way it stayed until the very end.
Webb Simpson collects his 2nd trophy of the year as he claims victory at the RBC Heritage. I think it’s finally time for golf fans, and golf media, to show Webb Simpson the respect he has earned. The man is a machine, and a winner. He has also taken the lead in the FedEx Cup points standings.
Webb was rolling his rock. He gained over 1.5 strokes putting this week, and only needed 28 during his final round. He was able to make a few birdies on his front 9, but he kicked it into another gear on his inward side. He made birdie on 5 of his last 7 holes, and didn’t record a single bogey.
CLUTCH!@WebbSimpson1 birdies the 71st hole to take a 2-shot lead.

All week, Webb only had 5 bogeys. The golf course fits his game perfectly, as he’s able to think and maneuver his way around and not have to worry about getting overpowered by a Brooks or DJ. He finished at -22, which is the new tournament scoring record.
Abraham Ancer gave everything he had in an effort to get his 3rd professional win. Ancer put on a ball-striking clinic, as he only missed 7 greens total all week, including hitting all 18 greens on Sunday. He went out at 32, but wasn’t able to make enough birdies coming in to take the lead over Webb.
Ranks for @Abraham_Ancer this week:
1st in SG: Tee-to-Green
1st in Driving Accuracy
1st in SG: Approach
1st in Proximity
1st in Putts (GIR)
T1 in SG: Total pic.twitter.com/oE2ek0KrY0— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) June 21, 2020
He was 1 of 4 players to beat the previous scoring record of -20, accomplished by Brian Gay in 2009. Ancer is 30th in the world golf rankings, and is the highest ranked player without a PGA Tour or European Tour victory. His time is coming soon.
Daniel Berger was nearly able to claim another win this week, after winning last week at Colonial. Berger birdied 15, 16, and 17 to put some pressure on Webb, but it wasn’t enough.

He is in complete control of his golf ball right now, and seems to have benefitted from the layoff maybe more than anyone else on Tour. Berger will be making his 3rd straight start next week in hopes of winning his second tournament in 3 weeks.
A few big names made a move up the leaderboard on Sunday, as Justin Thomas finished at -17 and Brooks Koepka finished in solo 7th, at -18. Justin Thomas made the cut on the number Friday afternoon, but came back to shoot 66 and 63 over the weekend. Brooks’ tournament was highlighted by a near ace on the Par 4, 9th.
Before play was suspended, @BKoepka was playing par 4s like par 3s.

The PGA Tour heads to the northeast next week for the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands. The Connecticut stop has quickly become a player favorite over the last few years, and the biggest names in golf will be there again next week. Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, are all set to make the start. World No.1 Rory McIlroy, who is also in the field, loves it in New England and had this to say about the tournament when he committed to the field at the end of 2019, “The Travelers Championship is one of the best events on the PGA TOUR, with a tremendous atmosphere, great fans…”
TPC River Highlands is an absolutely gorgeous venue, and a perfect example of northeast golf. Normally the second-highest attended tournament on Tour, the vibe in Connecticut will be a lot different this year as just like the last few weeks, there will be no fans in attendance.
