Fantasy Golf Picks, Odds, and Predictions for the 2015 Arnold Palmer Invitational

This Week’s Tournament Preview

The PGA TOUR will play one more tournament in Florida before heading to Texas for two weeks as we continue to gear up for the festivities at Augusta.  This year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational will feature a star studded field—making it a challenging week for fantasy players—with members of the TOUR getting shape for their final run before going for the green jacket.

In other news, Tiger Woods, an 8-time winner of this event, will sit out for the second year in a row and no news has surfaced yet about whether he will be at Augusta.  If we had to bet on it, our money is on the 14-time major champion finding a way to be in attendance this year.

This week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational will mark the 36th time the event is being played at Bay Hill.  Its also worth noting that over the event’s long history there have only been five instances where the winner was not from the U.S.

Almost all of the top players in the world will be in attendance this week to pay their respects to the tournament’s illustrious host, including first timer Rory McIlroy.

Last Week’s Fantasy Results

It was a stellar week for Golficity Premium Members as our pick Jordan Spieth brought home trophy after a well-fought playoff.  Spieth beat out Reed and O-Hair at Innisbrook last weekend which helping our picks notch a $1.438 million week in total fantasy earnings.

You can’t fault us for not having Sean O’Hair in our line-up, after all, the guy has made just one top 10 in his last 65 PGA TOUR starts!  Regardless, our Spieth pick brought in plenty of DraftKings winnings for our members last week and we’re happy to see the young gun back on top.

While most of the fantasy golf world was drooling over Adam Scott (who incidentally came with the highest price tag in salary cap leagues), we opted to keep him off our roster at the Valspar, and we’re glad we did since the Aussie missed the cut.

In total, all seven of our picks made the cut (including both sleeper picks) which boosted our made cuts ratio to 85.71% for the season.

Spieth’s win marks our third victory of the season and boosted our weekly fantasy earnings average to an impressive $913,385.

The Field

As we highlighted earlier in our preview, World No.1 ranked Rory McIlroy has finally decided to play this event and will head up a field that features all of the players ranked 1-5 in the current world rankings.

This week Bay Hill will host 15 of the rankings’ top 30 and you can count on an exciting week of golf with names like World No. 2 Bubba Watson, No. 3 Henrik Stenson, and No. 5 Jason Day all in the mix.

Other notables to tee it up this week will be the charging Rickie Fowler, Billy Horschel, and last year’s winner Matt Every.

The Course

Bay Hill Club & Lodge measures in at a lengthy 7,419 yards and plays as a dangerous par 72.  The course opened in 1961 and Arnold Palmer put his stamp of approval on the track, calling it the “best course in Florida” when he first visited in 1965.  In fact, he loved the course so much that he bought it and chose it as the track to host his annual event.

The closing trio of holes often produces a dramatic finish with plenty of challenges that have left many players defeated with just one swing.

Scrambling will be one of the the keys to success this week and our fantasy picks will certainly reflect that.  Don’t fall victim to picking the only the top OWGR players on a course like Bay Hill as it may only hurt you this week.

Weather Forecast for Orlando, FL

Expect warm, sunny Florida weather with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s this week with only slight chances of rain during the Thursday and Saturday rounds.  We may however see some weather delays on Sunday when an 80% chance of rain could threaten the event closer.  If it gets bad enough we may even see a Monday finish this week.

2014 Arnold Palmer Invitational Results

In 2014 Matt Every claimed his first and only PGA TOUR victory after making up a four-shot deficit heading into the final day.  In the end Keegan Bradley’s late charge wasn’t enough to overtake Every who won by one stroke with his Sunday 2-under-par 70.

Every bogeyed holes 16 and 18 which opened the door for Bradley who made birdie on 16 and 17 but Every took the trophy in dramatic, nail-biting fashion as Keegan’s 30 foot birdie putt on 18 pushed left.

Adam Scott shot a 62 on Thursday which helped build a seven-shot lead after 36 holes, but his five bogeys on Sunday knocked him race late in the day.

Where to Play this Week

We scoured the web to find the best games this week and besides getting your early entry in for the $2.2 Million Dollar Masters Event on DraftKings, we suggest another low priced option for the week: for this event,  we’re loving the PGA $45K BIRDIE [$45,000 GUARANTEED] game on DraftKings.  For only $3 you can enter this event and go up against a decent size field for a serious potential payout.  If you want to go even cheaper, we suggest the free roll with a shot at winning $1k.

This Week’s Fantasy Notes

All eyes will be on Rory again this week as fantasy players hope that their Rolls Royce priced pick actually (or should we say, finally) comes through for them.  There are plenty of other high priced players that all won’t fit on your roster, but we’re going to offer you our best five picks and two sleeper picks to help you make the best choice, at the best price.

The best way to beat the salary cap league is to play a few entries with different horse picks leading your charge.  That way, you’ll be able to squeeze more out of using different studs with the same set of sleepers, and if you catch lighting in a bottle with a sleeper, you’ll cash in nicely.

This week you’ll be shocked who made our list and who didn’t!
