2024 U.S. Open Pairings for Round 3

The pairings for the third round of the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 are set, with Bryson DeChambeau and Ludvig Åberg leading the way on Saturday.

Åberg leads the way at -5 after firing a -4 66 on Thursday and a -1 69 on Friday. DeChambeau is one back with 67 and 69 on those days, respectively. The pair will tee off at 3:35 p.m. EDT.

One of the surprises of the tournament is the performance of Scottie Scheffler, who has struggled so far this week and made the cut on the number. He is 10 shots back at +5, and has failed to shoot an under-par round so far at Pinehurst No. 2, firing a 71 and 74 so far this week.

Another notable pairing is that of Tony Finau and Rory McIlroy, who are tied at -3. Finau has managed to capitalize on his opportunities by playing small ball. He currently sits T4 in Greens in Regulation at 86 percent, and his 2.35 Strokes Gained Approach puts him in 9th for that category.

Meanwhile, McIlroy was tied for the lead going into Friday but shot a +2 72 on Friday, despite having a good round of golf. Conditions are surely playing a factor, but McIlroy sits in prime position for his first Major Title in 10 years.

A few notable names not making the cut for the weekend are Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, and Phil Mickelson, who is only a U.S. Open victory away from completing the career grand slam.
