According to a recent report by Golfweek, legendary golf coach Butch Harmon has informed his PGA TOUR associates that he’ll be cutting back his travelling and greatly reducing his presence on Tour.

Set to turn 76 this summer, it seems that Harmon is looking to scale back to a simpler life, opting to focus primarily on teaching the game close to his home in Las Vegas, NV.

Butch’s list of PGA and LPGA Tour students include some of the biggest names in the game. Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, and Jimmy Walker top the list of current PGA TOUR students, while who can forget the influence Butch had on a young Tiger Woods, when his father Earl hired Harmon in 1993.

Under Butch Harmon’s watchful eye Tiger would go on to win three straight U.S. Amateur Championships followed by the 1997 Masters.

At almost 76 years old Butch has given a lot to the game, and certainly no one can blame him for wanting to wind his hectic schedule down a bit, but where does this leave his current Tour students?

According to Golfweek DJ and Fowler have already began testing the waters with Butch’s son, Claude Harmon III, who is no stranger to coaching PGA TOUR players himself. Many of you may recognize Claude as three-time major winner Brooks Koepka’s coach.

It will undoubtedly feel like something is missing as Butch’s smiling face appears less and less around PGA TOUR events, but we all wish him well as he moves on to the next chapter in his life.
