The accomplishment that someone feels when they hit a hole-in-one on the golf course is something that every golfer strives to feel. But would that feeling be as strong if you’ve already accomplished so much in your life? The answer to that question is a resounding yes.

No matter how you feel about the man, George W. Bush has certainly lived an accomplished life as a former U.S. President and Governor of Texas. Bush has had a lot to celebrate in his life but the thrill of hitting his first ever ace was one that is right at the top of his list. And that celebration is amplified even more by his love for the game.

While his golf outing hasn’t caused as much media attention as his predecessors, Bush has always been in love with golf, something he learned from his father, former President George H.W. Bush. The younger Bush has had the opportunity to be a guest speaker for the U.S. Ryder Cup team on occasion and surrounds himself with charitable causes directly related to the game. And, of course, he loves playing too.

George W. Bush on Instagram: “With coaching from @thebushcenter CEO Ken Hersh and board members Mike Meece and Bill Hickey, I scored my first hole-in-one at the home of our Warrior Open and the @attbyronnelson. Next golf goal: live to 100 so I can shoot my age.”

George W. Bush shared a post on Instagram: “With coaching from @thebushcenter CEO Ken Hersh and board members Mike Meece and Bill Hickey, I scored my first hole-in-one at the home of our Warrior Open and the @attbyronnelson. Next golf goal: live to 100 so I can shoot my age.”.

That’s why W was out playing at Trinity Forest Golf Club this past week with friends. That’s where after 72 years of life, Bush was able to knock in his first hole-in-one. That’s impressive on quite a few levels. For one, that’s the home course of the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic, so Bush can say he hit an ace where the pros play. Also, Bush isn’t that great of a golfer and won’t be getting Tour of Champions invites anytime soon so this was probably a once in a lifetime experience for the former President.

And even a former President can be mesmerized by one of the most exciting moments in all sports. He immediately went to Instagram to post his great feat, giving much of the credit to the coaching and encouragement of his playing partners. Now, Bush says his next goal is to live to 100 so he can shoot his age. Knowing how strong the Bush family is, I have no doubt he could do that.

For a man that has done so much service for his country at the highest level, it’s nice to see W still finding things to celebrate. Hopefully, he’s able to live up to that next promise because I know a lot of people that would love to see 100-year-old George Bush shoot for 100 in a few years.
