NEWS: 50 year-old Phil Mickelson Wins the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island
For the second time in his illustrious career, Phil “Lefty” Mickelson claimed the Wanamaker Trophy this weekend, holding off fierce competition from four time Major champion Brooks Koepka.
What’s even more impressive than his five previous Major Championship victories, is the fact that at age 50, Mickelson became the oldest to ever win a Major. The previous record holder was Julius Boros, who at 48 years, four months and 18 days old won the PGA Championship in 1968.

Mickelson finished two shots ahead of both Koepka and Louis Oosthuizen to claim the stunning victory.
Despite a lack of recent success on the PGA Tour, Mickelson fought to remain focused throughout the weekend, and was ultimately able to rein it all in to cap off a great Sunday round. Of course, Mickelson’s victory didn’t come without some knee-knocking moments.
There was his bogey on the first hole, handing the lead to Koepka out of the gate, or his second on the 13th, which found the water.
But, the highs were much higher.
Powered by an amazing hole out from the bunker on 5th for birdie, and a 366 yard bomb off the tee on 16, Mickelson managed to pull off the improbable.
A two-putt par on the last gave Lefty the record-breaking victory, who finished the round one over, and six under for the tournament.
