Tiger is Ready for Capital One’s The Match
Tiger recently had to bow out of his own tournament last week because he is currently dealing with plantar fasciitis. All things considered, he said he has been able to practice a bit at Medalist (his home golf course). In addition to the quality practice Tiger has done recently, he has the luxury to use a cart in this event since it is an exhibition and will help take the pressure off his feet.
Tiger does feel that he has been playing well, but had this to say in a press conference last week:
“It’s just unfortunate I’m not able to do the things that I feel mentally I can do; the body just kind of rejects it. When I was at home, I was shooting 4, 5, 6, 7 under par like it was nothing, but I was in a cart. Now you add in walking, and that goes away. So I need to get to that point where I can actually walk around and play that way, like all of you guys can. I just, I’m not able to do that right now.”

We haven’t seen Woods tee it up on a national platform since The Open Championship, but it will be exciting to watch four great golfers between himself, Rory, Spieth, and Thomas this Saturday night. The teams will be Tiger and Rory versus Spieth and Thomas. The banter and golf will be entertaining for fans to take in. The format is set to be a 12-hole Best Ball match play format at Pelican Golf Club. The teams will play their own separate golf ball and take the lowest score on their team to determine a tie or a win per hole.
The match will take place under lights starting at 6 pm EST and will be broadcasted on TNT, with simulcasts available on TBS, truTV, and HLN.
