Tiger Woods in Attendance as PGA Tour Plays on One of His Courses for the First Time

The PGA Tour made its debut on the El Cardonal course at the Diamante Resort in Mexico this morning, and with it comes a piece of history: It’s the first time the PGA Tour has teed off on a golf course designed by Tiger Woods.

And even though Woods isn’t playing in the World Wide Technology Championship, he is in attendance in Los Cabos.

As we have discovered in recent years, while Woods has been away from competitive golf while recovering from an injury, his each and every move is dissected to determine how healthy he is.

Along those lines, we present this:

For a man who was seen hobbling outside of Augusta National seven months ago, this isn’t bad after coming off surgery for plantar fasciitis and other complications stemming from that February 2021 car crash that has left him competing sparingly since.

There are a couple of chances that fans are hoping to see Woods in action before the end of the year. First, one spot remains in his Hero World Challenge exhibition event in the Bahamas next month, and for the past two years, he’s played with his son, Charlie, in the PNC Championship outside Orlando, Florida, a couple of weeks before Christmas.

Woods’ TGR Design team created El Cardonal, which opened in 2014. The firm has opened several shorter courses along with two full-size tracks: Bluejack National, in suburban Houston, and Payne’s Valley at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri.
