STYLE: adidas Golf Brings More Vintage Hits With the ZX 8000 Golf Shoe
A few weeks ago adidas Golf released a golf limited edition Superstar, one of the most iconic sneakers to crossover from the basketball court to streetwear. Apparently, though, there’s a huge demand for vintage sneakers as adidas isn’t done digging into its vaults and releasing golf models of its classic sneakers.

adidas is announcing the availability of the first-ever ZX model built for golf: the limited-edition ZX 8000 Golf.
First released in 1984, the adidas Originals’ ZX series was born from the idea that runners need a variety of footwear options depending on the type of run, surface or training they were looking to accomplish. Taking all those intentions to heart, adidas Golf adapted this mentality to create the ZX 8000 Golf by packing in everything a golfer would need to not only look stylish, but also give them the traction and performance they need throughout the round.

The spikeless outsole is built upon the original grip pattern by adding longer, golf-specific secondary lugs, and a more aggressive tread pattern to ensure grip and stability in every swing along with comfort in every step.
With respect to the design cues and color inspiration, the ZX 8000 Golf takes its inspiration from the original ZX 8000 running shoe first released in 1989, but with the added benefit of 2020 adidas Golf technology, including the patented Torsion System for added stability and responsive BOOST midsole.

The unmistakable vibrant colorways (Clear Aqua/Shock Yellow with pops of Purple) provide added flare to any wardrobe. And to help protect these limited-edition shoes, adidas used water resistant materials in the upper to help offer some protection from the elements.
And adidas didn’t overlook adding little details to make this a unique ZX model for golf. The footwear features a lace jewel with the words “ZX GOLF” at the bottom of the eyestay, a leather toecap, and a unique adidas Golf logo added to the heel and sockliner.
“As the original sports brand, we are in a unique position to draw on our extensive archives for inspiration,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “The ZX was always meant to challenge the way people thought about running performance and we wanted to do the same with golf footwear by pushing the limits with technology and fashion. Offering the ZX 8000 Golf is just another example of how we combine sports heritage, performance and lifestyle to ultimately push golf fashion in a more progressive way.”

The limited-edition ZX 8000 Golf ($130) will be available via adidas.com, the adidas app and at select retailers outside of the U.S. beginning September 4 at 8 a.m. PT.
