A North Dakota Golf Course is Delivering Refreshments with Drones
If you’re like me, one of the best parts of going out to the course is running into the refreshment carts. The wait, however, is sometimes unbearable.
One golf course in North Dakota may have a solution to this problem.
The King’s Walk Golf Course is set to start delivering refreshments to golfers via drone. Yes, you read that right, the course located in Grand Forks, North Dakota will be dropping off burgers and dogs with a drone.
If you’re wondering how this all works, it’s actually quite simple. Since it’s 2018 and almost everyone has a smartphone, the course will provide an app for golfers to order their refreshments. Shortly after ordering the course will fly out a drone to your location on the course and bring your grub down to you via a rope.
The whole process isn’t expected to take longer than about 10 minutes.

The concept seems to be split down the middle based on generation. “The young golfers think it’s great. We’ve had people already call and ask — when’s the drone flying?” Bill Palmiscno, the executive director of the course told CNNMoney. “The old members kind of think, ‘oh you’re wasting your money.’ ”
This is definitely an innovative idea that has been no more than toyed with at larger levels. Everyone has heard about Amazon attempting to use drones to deliver packages and fast food restaurants considering the idea for deliveries but nothing consumer-facing has come of those experiments as of yet. Perhaps the delivery system at King’s Walk will be a nice trial run for some of the bigger corporations to monitor.
Regardless of how well the system works in North Dakota, this is just an awesome idea that I for one would love to take advantage of at my home courses. Hopefully, all goes well when the drone launches on September 15th and maybe other areas will start to pick it up in the future.
