Barstool Announces 64-Player, $1 Million Tournament for Golf Creators
After announcing in August that he’d want to put together a $1 million tournament featuring some of golf’s top content creators, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said that the wheels are in motion to host such a tournament.
Portnoy gave the latest on The Unnamed Show podcast.

While not giving a date, Portnoy said that the tournament would take place in the Ozarks in the spring or early summer. The field would have 64 players and include names such as Riggs, Trent, Frankie, Whit, Biz, Jerry, and former NFL head coach Jon Gruden.
Portnoy brought up the idea back in August when the PGA Tour was holding the Creator Classic at East Lake Golf Club before the Tour Championship.

Portnoy said at the time:
“I’d rather watch not great golf than like scratch boring golfers. Let’s get handicaps; let’s put a million-dollar prize together and have a real tournament.”
But this week, he said that money will likely be distributed to more people in the field because he believes he would be able to turn a profit thanks to sponsorship and distribution rights.
