Two-Time Masters Champion Confirms This Will Be His Last Visit to Augusta
Two-time Masters Champion Bernhard Langer confirmed earlier this week that the 2024 Tournament would be his final visit to Augusta as a player.
Langer won the 1985 and 1993 Masters Tournament and is one of only a handful of multiple-time winners of one of what is arguably the most prestigious Major Championship.
Langer made his first appearance at Augusta in 1982, meaning it only took him three tries to put on his first Green Jacket.

Well aware that his age has put him at an extreme disadvantage, Langer said “It’s exciting” to think about the fact that this is his last visit to Augusta as a player (via NBC Sports):
“…at the same time, I’m aware that I’m going to be hitting 3-irons and 2-hybrids when the guys are hitting 9-irons into the green, and that’s tough to compete against. But it’s a challenge, and I usually don’t shy away from challenges.”
He also plans to play at the U.S. Senior Open for the final time this year. He won the Tournament last year, and it was his 46th career victory.
Barring “some miracle,” Langer may be saying goodbye to his professional days for good in a few years. An undoubted legend of the game, his departure from the game of golf will be a sad day for those who have enjoyed the German’s excellent demeanor and pleasant playing for years.
In 2016, Langer was among the Top 5 on the leaderboard at the Masters heading into Sunday. Tied with Hideki Matsuyama at -1, he shot a +7 that day. He was 57 years old at the time, an incredible feat of its own.
