What a week it was to get back into the swing of things. And I need to brag a bit because one of the boys came out of the gate strong.

That’s right, the Pin High Podcast’s very own Trevor Jones picked Daniel Berger to win and that is exactly what D-Boogie did in Texas.  It was easily one of the most heartbreaking Sunday’s Collin Morikawa and Xander Shauffele have had in their golfing careers. Schauffele lipped out a 4 foot on 17 to 3 putt and dropped a stroke that put him out of the tie for the lead that put Berger and Morikawa in a playoff.

On the playoff hole, also 17, Morikawa also lipped out from about 4 feet to lose the tournament. All in all, it was a tough week to handicap, and my betting record showed that. It also doesn’t help when Matt Kuchar doubles the last hole on friday to miss the cut, but I digress. The round by round matchups I was posting on instagram on @thepinhighpod and @golficitybets were 4-1 though so it’s hard to complain. Picking winners is good for some real cash a couple times a year, but the matchups are where the consistent money is, so follow those accounts and stay tuned. This week, we have a lot more to base picks on, so let’s get right into them.

To Win The RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links: Collin Morikawa (+2800)/Patrick Reed (+3000)

Both of these guys had outstanding starts in the return to golf at The Charles Schwab Challenge. At this point, it’s incredibly hard to doubt Morikawa. His ball striking and approach to the green has been so good and the only real weakness he had this week was putting, specifically the short ones.

I think he locks in and works on that this week and contends once again. As for Reed, he’s a guy who has a lot of experience playing links golf with some wind. Just before the PGA Tour halted, he posted a T15 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which has very similar windy conditions to Harbour Town. Look for him to get hot once again with his putter (currently 2nd in SG: Putting) and be atop the leaderboard come Sunday.

To Finish Top 10: Tyrell Hatton (+400)/Gary Woodland (+400)

Tyrell Hatton is one of those guys that absolutely flourishes in windy conditions that affect so many Tour players negatively. He’s 1st in SG: Approaching the Green and 12th in SG around the green. I think he will have no problem contending this week. And Gary Woodland, the stinger king, is also set up nicely this week at Harbour Town.

Hitting these small greens is going to be so crucial to succeed here and Woodland is 7th in SG: Approaching the Green as well as 15th in SG: Total. Another stat to be aware of this week is scrambling, as many of the players who have succeeded at Harbour Town in the past have needed to do so. Woodland is 17th in scrambling on Tour right now.

Tournament Matchups

Ian Poulter (-130) over Sergio Garcia

Both playing quite a bit on the European Tour, these guys know how to play at courses like Harbour Town, but I really don’t like Sergio in this matchup, or at all. He missed the cut just this week while Ian Poulter posted a T29 at 7 under par.

Bud Cauley (-114) over Joaquin Neimann

Bud Cauley has some good history at Harbour Town and has one of the best short games on tour. I’m pretty low on the state of Joaquin Neimann’s game and I think Cauley is a safe pick going into this week.

Wild Card Bet of The Week: Any Si Woo Kim Bets

This is a weird weird weird phenomenon we have going with Si Woo Kim and Pete Dye courses. He has a 2nd place finish at the RBC Heritage (Pete Dye course), won at The Players (another Pete Dye course), has 6 top 25 finishes at Pete Dye course, and finally is 13th in strokes gained on Pete Dye courses since 2014. He’s 400-1 to win the tourney, 66-1 to come top 5, and 25-1 to come top 10. He’ll definitely be an interesting guy to keep an eye on this week.

Alright guys, hopefully this gave you some good insight beyond my picks on what’s going to get it done at Harbour Town this week. Make sure to listen to the Pin High Podcast on Wednesday for more insight and follow @thepinhighpod for the round by round matchup picks that I’ve been an absolute guru with. Enjoy another week on the PGA Tour.
