After a brief hiatus, I am back to give you ALL of the picks you need heading into US Open week at Winged Foot. There’s truly nothing better than a U.S. Open golf tournament where you have a winning score over par. At what I think is probably the most prestigious U.S. Open Course there is, Winged Foot Golf Club has narrow fairways, and rough as thick and deep as it gets. Course management is the name of the game this week, so let’s get right into our picks.

To Win the U.S. Open: Xander Schauffele (+1500)/Patrick Reed (+3300)

Since it’s US Open week, I wanted to give you guys two winners. Xander has been on probably the best run out of anyone in the field outside of the two favorites, Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm. He has a top 25 in 9 of his last 10 starts including a T2 at the Tour Championship. The guy just straight up performs when the field is fantastic, and the stage is as big as it gets.

As for Patrick Reed, I totally get it if you don’t like the guy. I’m personally not a huge fan myself. But here on the Golficity website, we are in the business of making money. He’s one of those guys you dread to see at the top of the leaderboard in events like this, but he always finds his way up there. After listening to an interview he did with Riggs over at Barstool Golf, I love Reed’s mindset on the course this week. He came T-4 at Shinnecock which is another U.S. Open course that played just about as hard as it gets, and he’s an elite player both around and on the greens. I think he’s going to manage the course very well this week.

To Finish Top 10 in the U.S. Open: Patrick Reed (+300)/Daniel Berger (+300)

You’ve heard my reasoning for Patrick Reed, but how about the season Daniel Berger put together after the restart. The guy has been elite ever since his win at the Charles Schwab, and I think he’s another guy who can manage his way around this course with that fade he hits off the tee and his superb iron play.

To Finish Top 20 in the U.S. Open: Tony Finau (+150)/Gary Woodland (+300)

Generally, U.S. Open courses have favored long hitters who hit a fade and have stellar iron play. That was apparent when Gary Woodland won last year with his patented fade off the tee, and fantastic iron play from 200+ yards. Tony Finau is another guy that fits the description. I think both of these have very good value.

Tournament Matchups

Daniel Berger (Even) over Bryson Dechambeau

If you listen to the Pin High Podcast interview that came out today with Beatin The Bookie, one of the best golf handicappers out there, he does not like Bryson’s chances on a course like this, where he can’t over power it. I think Bryson struggles and Berger takes this one easy.

Xander Schauffele (-115) over Rory McIlroy

You’ve seen why I love Xander. He shows up in major events, and in my opinion, Rory has been the least impressive star on tour since the return after the COVID break.

LOCK OF THE WEEK: Brendon Todd (-125) over Jordan Spieth

I really hate to do it to my favorite player, but Jordan Spieth just doesn’t have it right now. He can’t compete at a course like this when he is making mistakes like he has been all year. Brendon Todd, on the other hand, is a guy that can stay in the fairway all day and manage a course like this. I think this one is just too easy as sad as it is to bet against my guy Spieth.
