Brandel Chamblee Burns LIV Golfers in Latest Rant Over Money and Legacy

Brandel Chamblee almost seemed to be changing his tune on LIV Golf after a round of golf with President Donald Trump, but it was undoubtedly short-lived.

The golf commentator continues to spew his distaste for LIV Golf across various platforms, with his latest rant citing viewership figures for THE PLAYERS Championship vs. LIV Golf’s Singapore event.

Chamblee believes “LIV is dying a slow, costly death,” while the PGA TOUR is “killing it.” He also came after the players themselves, stating that fans would rather see the golfers who stayed with the PGA TOUR, aiming to be on the right side of golf history and legacy, while LIV players are having “seller’s remorse” and only care about money:

Let’s look at this head-on. Initially, let’s not act like the PGA TOUR players are not playing for money either. If there was no concern about money, the TOUR wouldn’t have erected a new way to retain players through Signature and Elevated events with the highest purses the TOUR has ever offered.

If the TOUR didn’t respond to LIV with higher pay, you can bet that only the true loyalists of what the TOUR stands for would still remain: Tiger, Rory, JT, and Spieth, along with others who LIV simply did not want.

The rest would be gone.

Then there are other players who left the PGA TOUR for reasons like injuries or more freedom. The TOUR has had a strict policy against players using content that it creates, whereas LIV gives players more freedom to create content. Bryson DeChambeau is a great example of this.

Chamblee’s resentment toward LIV Golf is understandable because, at first, many people probably felt the same way.

However, we’re a few years into this whole thing, and some people genuinely enjoy what LIV has to offer. With a potential agreement looming, there is absolutely reason to believe these two tours will be intertwined in the coming seasons. It will be interesting to see what Chamblee has to say then.
