BREAKING: Bryson Withdraws from Sony Open Due To Wrist Soreness
Anytime you start to push the limits on things, you quickly start to find the weak points.
With cars, you often see engines, transmissions and driveshafts break when people get aggressive, and with sports, it’s the body that usually taps out first.

Bryson has become the poster-child for bomb-and-gouge golf, with his offseason workouts powering his drive clubhead speed over 130 MPH (and approaching 135) and drives routinely flying past 300 yards (with the occasional 400 yard poke in there). Unfortunately, when you’re generating that much power, things can go very wrong when they don’t go right.
After a tough week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, Bryson is withdrawing from the 2022 Sony Open due to wrist soreness.

Now it’s important to note that wrist soreness is, unfortunately, a common, unsurprising many golfers withdraw from events, and it’s not hard to understand why: we play a sport where you’re repeatedly banging a metal object into the earth on an arc. Consequently, your wrist is the first (of many) weak spots, as demonstrated by numerous people who’ve broken wrists from hitting tree roots and rocks. Indeed, even Bryson’s “rival”, Brooks Koepka, spent most of his 2020-21 dealing with a nagging wrist injury.
Hopefully Bryson can put the injury behind him by the time the TOUR leaves Hawaii at the end of this month.
