BREAKING: Golf Courses Sue the Government Over Shutting Them Down
To what extreme would you go to play the beautiful game of golf? With warm weather upon us, there seems to be a mutual urge for golfers to get a round of golf in.
Typically by the second week in April, many if not most avid golfers would have recorded & posted 8-10 since the official open to the season, but in most states that’s not the case. As we may know by now, most courses have been ordered to shut down, which can cause financial problems.

Throughout the country, many small businesses have argued that, Local Government has crossed the line in forcing businesses & courses to fully shut down.
The New York Times was able to get a statement from Jim Roth; general manager of Blueberry Hill Public Golf Course & lounge in Russell, Pennsylvania.
According to the article, Roth is suing the State “ demanding that the governor not hold absolute power to open & shut segments of the Pennsylvania economy”
The article states:
Roth went on to explain that It felt that Gov. Tom Wolf was the stronghold behind the closure of the golf course.
“I thought I had a little bright light starting to shine, then somebody turned the light bulb off……. I do not understand why Mr. Wolf is able to deem this business life-sustaining and this one not,” Mr. Roth said. “I think the governor might have overstepped his boundaries.” Roth stated.
Many have deemed to believe, that people can play golf and manage to respect the rules of social distancing. Is it true? Courses that stayed open to the very last second have been enforcing the rules of social distancing to stay open. Fact, many have taken away carts and don’t allow cash transactions, but still have been forced to close anyway.
Can it be done? Can bringing a lawsuit to the government, get courses to open again? As much as I’d love to play, it’s probably a smart play to wait it out, stay home, do your part, and end this thing once and for all!
