After crushing several drives over 400 yards, Bryson was able to fight his way through and qualify for the 16-player championship round being held today at 3:45 p.m. (PST) and can be watched here:
As we can all imagine, the USGA and R&A are probably losing their minds right now watching Bryson advance to the finals while they are actively waging an ongoing war against distance in golf (to the detriment of amateur golfers around the world) and the ball traveling “too far” (despite data showing that the amateur golfer only drives the ball approximately 220 yards).
Many expected that professional long drivers like Jamie Sadlowski and Kyle Berkshire would be able to bridge the gap between competitive long driving and PGA TOUR, especially with driving distance being a top factor in scoring low.
I don’t think anyone would’ve have expected that a PGA TOUR driver would be the first to achieve the dual personality and compete, let alone possibly win, on the professional long drive circuit.

Clearly adding ~40 pounds of muscle has been a huge positive for Bryson, who’s since claimed a U.S. Open Championship and $1.3 million just from an 8th place finish in the FedEx Cup.
So now all we can do is imagine how long it will be before he can add a PLDA World Championship belt and victory to his accolades.
Does Bryson have what it takes to get the win?
