Bryson DeChambeau’s Custom Prototype Golf Ball Revealed
Bryson DeChambeau revealed recently that he was working on a new golf ball with an undisclosed manufacturer earlier this year, seeking tech that could handle his science-forward approach to the game.
DeChambeau said that he has been in need of a new golf ball that spins less and can handle the compression ratings he applies to them through his top-notch swing speeds. Earlier this year, he made it evident he was desperate for someone to help, seeking an OEM that could help.
He was playing the 2025 Titleist ProV1X, opting away from the Left Dash last year because of too much spin in soft conditions. He revealed a “couple cool options that have been prototyped” were shown to him, and it seems he now has his answer.
Bryson’s Golf Ball Solution
DeChambeau is now playing the Pro V1X Double Dot, a new custom performance option, which has been developed and manufactured for the best players in the world.
The new Double Dot, according to Bryson who spoke to Golf.com, flies about 20 to 30 feet lower with each club than what he used previously, and it also has less spin. DeChambeau is penalized for having a higher ball flight with his swing and ball speeds, so it is imperative the ball he uses stays lower to combat spin conditions in a variety of impact environments.

Interestingly, DeChambeau is not the only person using this ball. Cameron Young used the same ball to pick up his first win at the Wyndham Championship.
He said:
“It’s just been something we’ve worked on over the last nine, 10 months. It’s very, very similar to what I was playing before, it’s just a tiny bit different. It’s, like you said, a new Pro V1x prototype. I think it definitely contributed to some of the good play this week, so I’m excited about the next few weeks.”
Tony Finau is also among the players using the new Titleist ball.
