Bryson DeChambeau Rumored to Have Declined LIV Golf Contract Extension
LIV Golf has one of its biggest stars in Bryson DeChambeau, who is set to be coming up on what could be an expiring contract with the league, and rumors are circulating that the two-time U.S. Open Champion has declined to sign an extension.
We recently reported on perhaps the biggest piece of leverage the PGA TOUR could have, and that’s the expiring contracts of its biggest names. Both Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau are set to have their current contracts with LIV Golf expire either this or next season, which could potentially start talks of a potential return to the PGA TOUR.
While nothing concrete has been reported and neither LIV Golf or the team of Bryson DeChambeau have publicly commented, Pull Hook Golf has said that sources indicate he had declined a $280 million extension with the league:
‼️BREAKING‼️ Bryson DeChambeau has NOT agreed to an extension with LIV Golf and is expected to rejoin the PGA Tour after this season
Bryson was looking for a $280M extension, which PIF rejected 🤯

Of course, there have already been rebuttals from high-profile LIV Golf accounts on X. One of which is Flushing It, which reported on Jon Rahm’s intentions to leave the PGA TOUR for LIV Golf in late November 2023. Rahm would defect one month later:
The report about Bryson DeChambeau rejoining the PGA Tour next season is completely false. His contract with LIV Golf runs through the end of the 2026 season and it’s highly unlikely he’ll be playing any PGA Tour events until 2027, at the earliest.

There are many different angles to look at this. Initially, the PGA TOUR’s merger with the Saudi PIF aimed at reuniting golf as a whole, and there have been terms like “one tour” that have been used. If this were the case, and as a merger nears, it seems that it could be, DeChambeau’s contract with LIV might be useless anyway.
There is also the chance that this report is totally bogus. DeChambeau has entered a new state of stardom as he’s moved on to LIV, a tour that has allowed him to create his own content channel, which has been widely successful. He has gained a massive following because of LIV, and if the league were to exist past the merger, it seems more likely that he’d stay.
With that being said, his newfound popularity would likely continue to grow on the PGA TOUR, especially considering its higher TV ratings and fan base in comparison to LIV. This is not to say that LIV has not had its own successes, just that the PGA TOUR is more established.
As merger talks continue, DeChambeau will be staying put on LIV as his contract goes through at least this season.
