Full Thrust with Cobra’s DARKSPEED Drivers

As you’ve probably read by now, the agencies that develop, impose, and enforce the restrictions on golf club equipment have begun to crack down on distance. Today, it’s the golf ball. Tomorrow, many expect it will be drivers.

One of the design features that isn’t regulated, however, is aerodynamics, and Cobra looks to expose that with the DARKSPEED.

Giving off serious stealth bomber vibes, Cobra’s DARKSPEED X, DARKSPED MAX and DARKSPEED LS drivers each are donned in one color from head-to-toe black: black. Much like a stealth bomber, each of these drivers has been heavily redesigned to be as aerodynamically slick and fast as possible. Why? Well, if you remember that high school physics class, faster-moving objects impart more force. And with golf, more force means faster, further drives.

Alongside the aerodynamic changes are a larger PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face which, this time around, has been developed with the help of A.I. Since introducing CNC faces, Cobra has made an effort to be a leader in manufacturing techniques and tolerances, and the DARKSPEED is no exception. With the help of unique laser welding techniques, the DARKSPEED’s H.O.T. face is 13% larger this time around.

Additionally, the DARKSPEED features PWR BRIDGE that, like H.O.T. face, has been improved with the help of A.I. Located right behind the face, PWR BRIDGE looks to increase ball speed by reducing face flexion.

Finally, the DARKSPEED lineup benefits from more, lightweight carbon fiber to help free up weight for the sole-mounted, adjustable weight system.

As for the three models, the DARKSPEED X is available in 9, 10.5, and 12-degree standard lofts and is essentially your Goldilocks option—Mid Launch, Low Spin, and Neutral Ball Flight with a balance of Speed and Forgiveness. The MAX, also available in 9, 10.5, and 12-degree standard lofts, biases forgiveness and accuracy with a Higher Launch, Mid Spin, and Slight-Draw Ball Flight. The LS, available 8, 9 and 10.5 degree standard lofts, is designed to give maximum speed with a Low Launch, Low Spin and Fade-biased Ball Flight.

Each of the DARKSPEED drivers will retail at $549. Pre-sale begins today and full retail starts on January 19th.
