After missing the cut last week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Rickie Fowler turned to his ex swing coach compadre, Butch Harmon.

It appears that the rekindling might just pay off.

Since the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open, Fowler’s name has been absent from the winner’s circle. T8 at this year’s PGA Championship and T5 and the 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions have been the most notable finishes. The world has missed old Rickie, but we might just have a chance to see a resurgence.

Slamming the hammer down, Rickie fired a bogey free 63 on Saturday at the The Summit Club, resulting in a 2 shot lead over Rory McIlroy who shot an equally impressive bogey free 62. These two get the battle it out on Sunday along with Abraham Ancer in the final group. There have been some crazy low rounds this week in Vegas so, at this point, this is still anyone’s tournament to win.

Now, I guess my entire point here was to direct everyone’s attention to Mr. Rickie Fowler himself. Since February 2019, he has tumbled all the way from the top 10 to outside of the top 100 in the world golf rankings. Rickie needs this win just as much as the golf world needs this win.

After having an overall rough 2021 season, it’s refreshing to see that he might have found his game again. Win or not, this might be the start of a feel good, comeback story from the 32 year old who still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

This PGA Tour season just got a whole lot sweeter.
