Couple Living Along Golf Course Awarded $5 Million in Lawsuit Over Errant Shots
We’ve all been there: line up the perfect tee shot, but the ball does not go where we envisioned. Instead of dropping in the fairway, it slices right off a nearby roof or into the bushes of a home that borders the golf course.
We then hope the people aren’t home as we drive by on the cart, and then the episode is forgotten as we approach the green. The problem is that the Tenczar family of Kingston, Massachusetts, could not move on.

The family endured a non-stop pelting of their home–complete with broken windows and near-misses with their young children–as nearly 700 errant tee shots off the 15th hole at the Indian Pond Estates hit their house like missiles since moving there in 2017.
The family said they tried to get the golf club to do something but with little success.
Since moving in to their home overlooking a golf course in 2017, Erik and Athina Tenczar have picked up nearly 700 balls on their property. In December, a jury awarded the Tenczars nearly $5 million for damages and mental and emotional suffering. https://t.co/JYD9UWxy0W

Eventually, things ended up in court. In December, the Plymouth Superior Court awarded the Tenczar family $3.5 million for damages and mental and emotional suffering, with the total ballooning to $4.9 million with interest.
The course, which has since altered the tee box of the 15th hole recently that put an end to the barrage of balls hit into and onto the house, plans to appeal the case.
