Pro Shop Holdings, a new golf media company founded earlier this year, is adding former Barstool golf reporter Dan Rapaport.
Hey guys. Today I’m super excited to start the next chapter of my life-long love affair with golf. I’ve joined Pro Shop Holdings as Editor-at-Large for the new Skratch. Earlier this month, Rapaport announced he would be leaving Barstool’s Fore Play, saying that he expected to reappear in a more journalistic role like he became known for. On the way out, Barstool founder Dave Portnoy called Rapaport “boring” on his Unnamed Show podcast.
Pro Shop Holdings was co-founded by Netflix “Full Swing” Executive Producer Chad Mumm and former Puck CEO Joe Przycki. In raising nearly $20 million in capital, Pro Shop acquired Skratch, a social media brand created by the PGA Tour, and the company also has rights to film at PGA Tour events.
Purzycki told Sports Business Journal:
“Dan is very representative of the type of talent and model we’re bringing to Skratch. He has a big social footprint, and he’s built a community around his reporting.”
Rapaport appeared on the first two seasons of “Full Swing,” and prior to his stint at Barstool, he reported for both Sports Illustrated and Golf Digest.
At Skratch, Mumm said that Rapaport will still do insider reporting, create content on YouTube, and host a podcast.
