Don’t Miss: Tom Kim Mic’d Up at the WM Phoenix

The WM Open this week has been a whirlwind of high-pressure, stellar golf, and entertainment from the word ‘go.’ As well as bringing in enormous business for the local area – with over 700,000 fans in attendance – the WM Phoenix is fast becoming the most highly anticipated event on the Tour schedule.

Adding to the improved broadcast is one feature that has received a great response, giving the players the mic as they play a hole. Tom Kim is the latest golfer to be mic’d up this week, with CBS continuing the trend of giving players the mic after Max Homa’s fantastic reception from the fans.

As he has so many times, Kim rose to the occasion. A blistering 329-yard drive down the par 5 13th set up a great player-caddie interaction between Kim and former caddie for Rickie Fowler – Joe Skovron. After Kim pulled a four iron, Skovron talked him down to consider a five or even a six iron. After a towering iron shot to four feet, it turns out Joe was right. Kim missed the eagle putt but tapped in for birdie, and we had a front-row seat to the whole thing.

This aspect of the broadcast is making a huge difference to the audience at home. Who better to talk you through a shot than the player hitting it?

With the much-anticipated Netflix documentary ‘Full Swing’ airing on Wednesday, the fans are being brought ever closer to the stars of the game. Access is the one thing we can’t get enough of, and what LIV Golf has tried to cash in on in comparison to the PGA Tour. In the spirit of growing the game and staying in touch with the modern generation, this documentary is set to be a real insight into the lives of the professional golfers we see every week.

If Sunday in Phoenix with the world’s best isn’t enough, just remember…Tiger’s playing next week.
