DP World Tour Golfer Eddie Pepperell Responds to PGA Tour’s PIP Claim of Being ‘Criminal’

The PGA Tour’s Player Impact Program (PIP) is out, and once again, Tiger Woods took home the $15 million prize. This year, his big check came with playing in two events, which is two more than he took part in in 2021 when taking the top spot in the PIP.

The criteria for the PIP include Nielsen rating, Google reach, Q-Score, and other non-golf factors. Given that Woods is—and will be for the foreseeable future—the face of golf, he can probably count on this holiday bonus for many years to come.

Scottie Scheffler, who won the Masters and was the No. 1 golfer in the world for much of the year, placed sixth. FedEx Cup champion Rory McIlroy was second, earning $12 million.

Further down the list, Hideki Matsuyama was awarded $2 million. That caught the attention of some.

Flushing It, a Twitter account from an ex-pro golfer, put things in perspective after the Japanese star reportedly turned down a huge offer from LIV Golf.

Eddie Pepperell, who has been one of LIV’s most outspoken critics, weighed in:

Despite his struggles on the DP World Tour and not playing in a major since the 2020 U.S. Open, Pepperell has been steadfast in saying that he would not join the LIV tour if offered.
