Gary Woodland hit an emotional hole-in-one during the Par 3 Contest at Augusta National Golf Club on Wednesday, just months removed from brain surgery.

In August, Woodland announced that he would have brain surgery in mid-September:

“I wanted to share a recent health development with you. On Sept 18th, I’ll be having surgery to remove a lesion found on my brain. I was diagnosed a few months ago and have been trying to treat symptoms with medication. After consulting with multiple specialists and discussing with my family, we’ve made the decision that surgery to remove the lesion is the best course of action.”

While Woodland confirmed he was in good spirits, it is no secret the procedure was scary.

Everything went smoothly and Woodland is back in the game, and has been for several months. He is participating in this week’s Masters Tournament, and he and his family participated in Wednesday’s Par 3 Contest, where Woodland hit a hole-in-one in what was one of the most emotional moments at the Masters in recent memory:

If that wasn’t enough, Woodland ALMOST did it again on the very next hole:

The Masters always seems to have one moment that brings a tear to everyone’s eye. This was probably it.
