Gary Woodland Announces He Will Have Brain Surgery
Gary Woodland announced this morning he will have brain surgery in mid-September to remove a brain lesion that was found several months ago.
“I wanted to share a recent health development with you,” Woodland wrote in his post. “On Sept 18th, I’ll be having surgery to remove a lesion found on my brain. I was diagnosed a few months ago and have been trying to treat symptoms with medication. After consulting with multiple specialists and discussing with my family, we’ve made the decision that surgery to remove the lesion is the best course of action.”
A brain lesion is an abnormality seen on CT scans or MRIs. The abnormalities are related to tissue that appears to be different than normal brain tissue, and can be spotted as light or dark spots.
They usually stem from injury or disease, but depending on the type of lesion and the cause, they can sometimes heal on their own. In this case, it is treatable, and Woodland will have the procedure in an attempt to eliminate any future issues that could stem from having the lesion.
“I’m in good spirits with my family and team by my side and so thankful for the love and support of everyone,” he concluded.

Woodland was greeted with various words of encouragement from his colleagues. Tony Finau said, “Prayers up GW, you got this bro.”
We wish Gary the best of luck!
