EQUIPMENT NEWS: Cleveland Golf Announces New Frontline Putters

Cleveland Golf today announced a new line of putters with a very interesting engineering design.
Traditionally, putters have been designed with the majority of its weight towards the back of the putter. The idea being weight in the rear of the putter helped increase stability on off-center hits.
Which is true…mostly.
Rear weights do increase MOI, or moment of inertia, and prevent “twist”, but they also position the center of gravity in the back of the putter. This is significant because it does affect accuracy.

So to help with accuracy, Cleveland Golf has designed the Frontline putter with two Metal Injection Molded Tungsten weights, totaling 47.3 grams, in the face, bringing the center of gravity forward.
This new weighting system, combined with Cleveland’s Speed Optimized Face Technology, SOFT for short, provides more consistent speed and better accuracy than the back-weighted putters. SOFT normalizes ball speed across the face, while the Metal Injection Moded Tungsten weights provide the accuracy we all covet.
Finally, to be sure you have the correct putter fitting, the Frontline mallets come in two different hosel types, single bend (straight stroke) and slant neck (slight arc stroke).
